1. The Ordinary's Rose Hip Seed Oil
Ingredients: Rosa Canina Seed Oil.
Texture: Thin dry oil that absorbs quickly!
Scent: At first it has a weird chicken smell but it doesn't linger and you don't notice it after using it a couple times!
Packaging: Simple and sturdy. Sometimes the dropper lid can be a little finicky but still pretty good quality.
Price: $9.90 CAD
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Yes for both.

Repurchase? Yes.

Thoughts: I received this as a Christmas gift from my boyfriends sister and I've been using it since around that time. It does have a strange scent in the very beginning but it's unnoticeable over time and doesn't linger at all. I like this oil because it makes my skin feel so MOIST without feeling super heavy or greasy. I only use this during my night time routine because it doesn't sit under foundation well and when I wake up my skin looks healthy and soft. In the past when I used creams at night I felt like it didn't provide enough moisture and in the morning my face would feel a bit dry and look dull. I always recommend people to try using a facial oil at least once because it can really help your skin out no matter what skin type you have. I think there's an oil for everyone out there!  Once I switched out a night cream with an oil I stopped having the issue with my skin not feeling hydrated or looking dull when I woke up. The ordinary has a wide variety of oils for different skin types and concerns and it's so affordable that there's no guilt or regret if an oil doesn't work for you and if one doesn't work for your face you can just use it for different parts of your body so you're not wasting it. I ordered another bottle of this oil and it should be here within a week or so (the ordinary also has pretty good shipping, not too expensive and arrives quickly! update: IT ARRIVED BEFORE I FINISHED WRITING THIS). After I finish up the second bottle I want to venture into trying their other oils! I've been eyeing the Borage oil and I definitely I want to repurchase the virgin marula oil since I used a sample of Drunk Elephants virgin marula oil and fell in love with it (but it's too damn pricey).

2. Benton's Cacao Moist and Mild Serum
Ingredients: Theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract, Butylene Glycol, Aqua, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Theobroma Cacao (cocoa) Seed Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrhizate, Theobrma Cacao (Cocoa) Flower Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Betaine, Panthenol, Carbomer and Arginine.

Texture: Lightweight watery gel texture that absorbs quickly.
Scent: Scent free (however, Benton's products have a certain fragrance to it that's not irritating).
Packaging: Simple and sturdy. Dropper is short and stiff so when you have a little bit left you can't reach it.
Price: $22 CAD
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Yes for both.
Repurchase? No.

Thoughts: I bought this awhile back and stopped using it for awhile because I thought it was irritating my skin. HOWEVER, my skin was freaking out because I was being dumb and used a bunch of new products all at once rather than slowly introducing them into my routine (I am very bad with this). I discovered that the other products I introduced were causing issues instead of this serum and I started using this again awhile after I stopped using the other new products! It is a light and pleasant texture that absorbs quickly and leaves the skin feeling moist and smooth. I did enjoy using this serum however I wouldn't repurchase it. I wasn't impressed by it and didn't feel like it was a "must have" product. It added a bit of moisture but not enough where I felt like it made a huge difference in my skin and that I needed in my routine. I wish it was a bit heavier and had more substance to it. I also didn't really appreciate how fast it was used up, a little does not go a long way with this serum in my experience. I like products that last at least 3-4 months but I honestly think this lasted me around 2 at the most (I used it on and off). If it had TO's price tag it would have been fine but it's on the pricer side (over $18) I would want it to last a bit longer to make it worth the cost. However, it isn't a bad product and I think it would work well for those with oily, combo or normal skin for an extra boost of moisture that isn't heavy or greasy. This would also work for those with sensitive skin that really struggle to find products that don't irritate or sit weird on their skin. I think it would also be good for all those skin types in the summer because it adds moisture without being heavy which is always appreciated when you're sweating like crazy and your skin feels easily suffocated. As for those with dry skin, you might need something a bit heavier to really see change in your skin but if you just want a light boost of moisture this would work especially in the warmer months.

3. Benton's Aloe BHA Toner
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Beta-Glucan, Polyglutamic Acid, Aspalathus Linearis Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Salicyclic Acid, Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arginine, Pentylene Glycol, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer and Xanthan Gum.

Texture: Watery and fast absorbing.
Scent: Scent free (however, Benton's products have a certain fragrance to it that's not irritating).
Packaging: Simple and sturdy. Make sure not to put it in direct sunlight!
Price: $21 CAD
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Yes for cruelty free but not vegan because of snail filtrate.

Repurchase? Yes!

Thoughts: I was so sad when I realized this was running out because I didn't want to go a day without using it (I just ordered one a day ago and it should come by the end of the week so I'm being dramatic but STILL, update: IT CAME IN RIGHT WHEN I FINISHED THE LAST COUPLE DROPS, bless mikaela-beauty!!). I've had troubles finding a toner that doesn't irritate or dry my skin out and this one has been great for my skin. It helped reduce my blackheads and make my skin look more even and less dull. My blackheads aren't completely gone but I find that when I'm on top of my game with using an oil cleanser alongside this, it makes a noticeable difference! I find that this is a great intro to BHA's for people with super sensitive and dry skin but probably won't be strong enough for people with oily or more resilient skin types. I find that salicylic acid works quite well for my skin and I really loved this since it was a lower concentration and could be use daily. I've used a couple spot treatments and they were just way too strong to be used daily and I'd rather use something daily for consistent acne soothing and healing for preventative measures rather than just using it after spots as a reactive measure. If you haven't tried BHA's yet but are worried about them being too harsh, I suggest trying this out to introduce your skin to it then working your way up (I'm going to start doing this). I find that my acne heals a bit faster and doesn't scar as dark when I used this consistently. I've noticed it also helped with my skins texture, my skin used to be a bit rough but it smoothed out after using this consistently! I definitely recommend this to those with various skin types!

4. Hourglass's Vanish Foundation Stick

Ingredients: Phenyl Trimethicone, C12-15 Alkyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Microcrystalline Wax/Cera Microcristallina, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax/Candelilla Cera, Ceresin, Polyethylene, Pentylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-2 Triisostearate, Vp/Hexadecene Copolymer, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Aluminum Hydroxide, Bht, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Illicium Verum Fruit Extract, Isostearyl Alcohol, Lauryl Laurate, Lauryl Peg/Ppg-18/18 Methicone, Macadamia Seed Oil Polyglyceryl-6 Esters Behenate, Methicone, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Propanediol, Silica, Talc and Triethoxycaprylylsilane. May Contain (+/-): Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499) and Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).
Number of shades: 32
My shade: I'm in between the shade cream and alabaster, I find that in the winter cream works better and in the summer albaster works! Both are very fair shades with cool undertones. For reference, my shade in MUFE HD invisible cover foundation was Y205: Albaster (also cool toned).

Texture and coverage: Creamy and medium coverage than can be built up. HOWEVER, can easily cake if you don't use a light hand.
Scent: Scent free.
Packaging: Gorgeous! Sturdy and simple. I find that the twist tube can be slightly annoying because when you're running low it's hard to get every bit of the foundation.
Price: $56 CAD
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Yes for both.

Repurchase? Yes!

Thoughts: I've been using this foundation for around 2 years now and I do really enjoy using it (going to buy my third tube soon). What I like about this is that it has medium coverage but can be layered to full coverage but like I mentioned above you have to use a lighthand when applying it because it can get cakey easily if you aren't careful. What I like most about it is that it isn't too warm toned like a bunch of other foundations at Sephora are. I have the biggest issue with finding appropriate foundation shades because 1) I'm incredibly pale, 2) I have cool-neutral undertones and 3) I have super dry skin and almost every foundation I've found that matches my skin colour is WAY too warm and I end up looking super orange (like trump) and it also looks super patchy and crusty on my skin because it's not meant for those with super dry skin. It's really hard finding a foundation that accommodates all these issues and this is the best bet for me. The undertones are more neutral for some shades and they do have shades that are quite a bit lighter which is awesome for people that are super pale. The formula isn't drying and works well for those with dry skin, however, if your skin has an off day and is a lot more dry and patchy it can kind of accentuate it since it's a cream formula so that's something to keep in mind. However, it isn't as bad as a few other foundations I've tried that actually dry my skin out and make it look drier than it actually is so this is a god sent since it doesn't do that at all. I think you can use a variety of tools to apply it as well, beauty blender, brush, fingers, etc, I mainly use a beauty blender and my fingers because brushes never work well for me when it comes to foundation application. I us
e a beauty blender first to spread everything out and have a good layer and for any areas that are a bit red or need more coverage I just go in with a second layer over top. I haven't been using concealer lately because of the same reasons above, I have yet to find one that doesn't dry the living hell out of my skin 😒. This does a decent job though even without concealer so I'm going to keep doing this method until I find a concealer that works well for my skin haha. This lasts about 6-7.5 months for me with daily use and although it is on the pricer side I think it's worth it since I do use it every day and it's the best I've found that works for my skin. The packaging is also GORGEOUS and it doesn't make me break out or have a strong fragrance like a few other foundations out there.

5. Klair's 2 in 1 cotton pads

Materials: Compressed pad: 100% cotton, sponge cotton: pulp/rayon blend.
Scent: Scent free.
Packaging: I like the cardboard box it comes in? A lot of the cotton pads I get in the drugstores come in plastic bags so I definitely appreciate having cardboard.
Price: $8.50 CAD
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Yes for both.

Repurchase? Yes.

Thoughts: I never thought I'd be picky about cotton pads but after using the basic kind from the drugstore when I ran out of these I realized how much I enjoyed these!! The ones I'm using now absorb ALL the product and I feel like it's such a waste where when I used these I used less because the material didn't absorb all the product! I'm going to use up the ones I have now because I'm trying to use things up before buying new products but I am definitely going to buy these or the renewed version when I'm done!

6. Garnier's Skin Active Micellar Water
Ingredients: Aqua / Water, Hexylene Glycol, Glycerin, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Disodium EDTA, Poloxamer 184 and Polyaminopropyl Biguanide.
Texture: Watery.
Scent: Scent free.
Packaging: Simple and sturdy.
Price: (Can't find it online, I believe it was under $20)
Vegan and/or cruelty free? Not sure (will update).
Repurchase? Probably not.

Thoughts: When I first got this I didn't like it at all. I thought it was irritating my skin but it was something else in my routine that was. I eventually ended up using it really fast because I ran out of my cleansing balm and had no other product to use to remove my make up for a month or so AND I was feeling lazy and didn't feel up to using a cleansing oil. I think it's decent but I did find that it dried my skin out whenever I removed my make up and I needed to go straight to my skincare right away because it feel tight and uncomfortable. It's a good cheap option if you don't want to spend extra on the bioderma micellar water or any other cleansing water and it's decent for sensitive skin. I wouldn't repurchase it though unless I couldn't get a hold of other cleansing options!
